Ecouragement

You are you - PART I

Identity plays a HUGE role on this blog. I know I don’t post as often, but that’s because life has been happening!! AND also it’s because I usually wait to see what needs to be said :)  It will be worth it in the end I believe :) What I do love, is seeing people come to terms of who they are in Christ. It is so wonderful and so beautiful to see people flourish. I thank you so much for reading the online format of this aspect and I thank the Lord for His Word that changes lives and the fact that He cares. He truly cares!

This post is to encourage you to keep going.

Perhaps you’ve come to a place where you’ve stopped being yourself for the sake of another person, or other people.

Perhaps you think if you just do “one more thing”, you’ll fit in… or you’ll break.

You don’t have to do it.

You know why? Because YOU DON’T FIT IN, and you’re not supposed to …. And that’s only because you are unique and were made to stand out, beautifully.

I’ll give you an illustration that showed this a while ago, where I knew that this was true. If you know the story of JOSEPH and his COLORFUL coat, you might recognize a bit of this in the lesson I got. So, a year ago I was at a friends’ (with their permission I am saying this!!) and I told them that I was going to the store. When I left their place, it was dark out, and I was wearing bright clothes. It was starting to get a bit chilly, so they lent me their black jacket. My friend then said, ‘it’s better because you’re too colorful and you stand out’. They meant it as, ‘it’s late and dark and it’s better if you blend in with the night since you’re going to the store in case anyone sees you’. So, I said 'thanks' and 'bye'. Later on that night in my study I got revelation that that’s how the enemy works (and NO my friend is not the enemy! LOL this was a separate lesson played out in ‘real time’ LOL).

In relation to this illustration, the enemy wants us to BLEND in and not be ‘recognizable’, he wants us to ‘stay inside’ our comfort zone or in people’s boxes, closed in, and not ‘BE BRIGHT’ (i.e. He doesn't want us to be a LIGHT, or ourselves in Christ, or authenticated) and he not only TELLS you that, but he JUSTIFIES it… Get it? Okay. ;-) Great!! I hope you do!! ;) :) Fortunately, the good outweighs the bad, and we praise God that He reminds us and lets us know that we are MEANT to be shine and stand out!

So, no matter what’s being said about you right now, or talked about, and you’re trying to force yourself to fit in or subconsciously do so, remember that like JOSEPH, you stand out. Don’t be afraid of that. Like JOSEPH, you might get FLACK for it, your brothers (or sisters) might make you seem like you’re different, or not ‘worthy’/’enough’, but oh, you are. You are. You’re powerful.
