![]() Sometimes we feel tired, a little tied down, and we need a proper cleanse in our bodies as well as some extra energy. This juice helps with both, along with an extra added boost of skin cleansing on the side! ;-) To make this green juice, follow the steps below! I hope you like it! :) STEP 1: Get some Spinach!! :) Here I used baby spinach, but I'm sure any size is fine as long as it fits to cut up in your blender! I would recommend about half a cereal bowl of spinach for a good medium "shot" of the green smoothie. Spinach is good for a variety of things, for example, it is a good supplier of protein, iron, magnesium, etc. In cleansing, it cleanses your liver, and helps release constipation cycles for a cleaner bowl movement. If you're stuffed and feel like you need a healthier lifestyle or movement in your body, this method's for you! Afterward drinking this, you'll definitely feel just how "clean" your body starts become! STEP 2: The extra added boost is…CUCUMBER! So go on and grab that cucumber and cut it into tiny pieces. Along with also refreshing your body, washing out toxins, and hydrating your body, you'll use cucumber because it is also good for your skin, and who doesn't want rejuvenated skin? ;-) The amount I used was about 5-10 cm of the cucumber. STEP 3: Put the spinach and pieces of cucumber into the blender. If you are using a hand blender, then you can put the pieces into your glass. STEP 4: Don't forget the juice! I've heard of people using milk, however I prefer using my multivitamin juice. How you decide what juice or liquid to implement depends on what you know you are desiring to get from the juice. I want energy, so, multivitamins gives us a variety of vitamins needed to jumpstart the active "awakening" and building process within our immune system. (P.S. be careful of sugar content in some juices, and also as said before, this is for a quick green juice to jumpstart the process of healthy eating, so it does not replace eating your daily vegetables). For a medium "shot* I would say that 125ml of juice would be enough to blend with. STEP 5: Make sure all your ingredients are in the container, and then blend blend….and blend! Then you're done. :) Timing-wise, it should take about 3-5 seconds (depending on the speed), however it should not be that long. When you open it, there should not be any large pieces of spinach or cucumber, if so, blend again. STEP 6: Voila! And it is finished. Pour your green juice into a glass and you're ready to go! :) Drink away and don't forget to smile. =) Tips:
-For "easier access", wash your spinach the night before so you won't spend time doing so in the mornings. All you'll need is to grab your bowl of spinach, quickly cut your cucumber, grab your juice and blend. It's quick and easy. -I suggest doing this 2 times a week or just once in a while for a good boost and cleansing (you can use the rest of the spinach for other purposes/recipes). -Once again, this is just for starting a process of something greater, a healthier lifestyle, enjoy and don't stress out! =) Have a great day familia! Welcome to the very first Food&Bake post! I look forward to showing you many more recipes & ideas just like this! This is one of my favorite ''recipes". Although it's not something you 'cook' per se, it's something you can easily whip up when you don't have time to prepare a big breakfast. This, in itself, although simple, and fast, is also healthy and filling. When I was busy and always on the run, I found this to be so easy to make. It's healthy because you use whole wheat bread. Bran has more nutriens than that of bread that is more refined. This means, the closer the grain is to its natural state, the longer you will stay full. This is because whole grains are absorbed more slowly and will less likely raise glucose and insulin levels. If you're allergic to wheat, this won't be for you obviously :P but you could still find wheat-free bread alternatives that are just as filling, like rice or corn bread. :) Spread the peanut better on your wonderful bread, and cut the banana into slices and put them on top of the bread. Among other nutrients, peanut butter has a good source of protein and fibre, which also keeps you full for longer. Yes it is known to be high fat, but don't worry, this is the healthy and natural fat that we need in our body to have a healthy immune system (just think 'olive oil', and just think 'moderation', and you'll be fine, haha). By adding on the banana slices, you are signing up for an energy-filled day as they are high in potassium - yuuuummmmmy! :) Strawberries. Yum. Why not add them as a nice and refreshing side? ;-) These deliciously picked strawberries are just in time for summer. Depending on where you are, you can have them all year round, but for some reason, they just look more appealing in summer. And ladies, strawberries are also known for being excellent for boosting the immune system and burning stored fat ;-) Oh, and they contain traces of anti-ageing agents for those who need them as well #JussSayin' :) :P Although a carb-filled breakfast, remember that it's great to get you started off for your day because you are going to burn those carbs as you run around the day and fill fuller for longer!
Oh and, don't forget to pray! It is in fact for your daily bread ;-) yes yes..that was so corny I know...but know that that was totally intended ;-) Ah…have a good day. :) Until next time! ![]() Hey!! Welcome to the Food&Bake Section! I am very excited about this. As some of you may know, (I feel like I'm confessing something big here...lol) I love to bake, and I love to food!! All flavors, from all countries, whatever! I'll try it all once (well, except snails and other random stuff)!!... *Phew* Glad that confession's done! ;-) But really, in past years, I was not so food-conscious and just ate whatever had flavaaaa! Yum yum yum! However, it all changed in the year 2011. Surely this desire and passion was God-given? :) Well, now that I have (a bit more) nutritional knowledge, that passion for food has turned into trying out new recipes and enjoying to bake! Maybe one day I can share with you how this transformative journey took place, but obviously, as you may know, it's still a learning factor and I still have my days, but I try to substitute a lot of foods for healthier options, whilst making sure I don't deprive myself in all that I eat. WHAT IS FOOD FOR?Food is good for us for a number of reasons. It gives us fuel for the day, posing as energy that can be burned and then added again. It is also something to enjoy. Food enables us to experience the different flavors of God, and just how good He is. And hey, it does say: "taste and see that the Lord is good!" Amen to that! haha! I know He wasn't talking about food per se, but I really do see life allegorically in showing us the wonderful news of our Savior, Jesus Christ so food goes way in there! Food also brings cultures together. I don't know about you, but food is an opportunity to share with others, and to also have conversation. I met a lady about 2 years ago, who said that the coffee table after church was just as important as the person in the front speaking or behind the scenes. She called it a ministry. Intrigued by her words, she went on to explain how it was such a blessing for her to serve in that way because she loved hearing the conversations that were a result of the tea (no, it wasn't the gossip factor, lol). I can say that I was entirely refreshed from her words. People get coffee or tea, and it enables them to wait where they are, or to go off and sit down. In doing so, they are given the opportunity to interact with other people or they can just wait in themselves. Either they, they usually spend some time with their coffee or tea, thus creating an opportunity that could potentially change the outcome or atmosphere of the day. We usually sip on hot drinks as opposed to just gulping it down and moving along (unless you have a thing for burnt tongues and throats). In most cases, one waits. In the waiting, it creates an opportunity for community, ministry, comfort, and when given the chance, the likelihood to get real with each other. After hearing that lady 2 years ago, I now couldn't agree more, and from that day forward, I viewed life differently. One might think that food is just food, and we just eat it, but really, there's much more to that. It's not the food in itself that brings this, but its using something we all have in common as an opportunity to share. In knowing what we have in common, we are thus able to start sharing with one another, in more ways than one. Food is an open door for ministry. A ministry of love. What are your thoughts on this? Do you view food as an opportunity to share, to minister, or do you view it differently? Was there a moment you realized that food could be so much more than just for eating? Let me know below! I'd love to hear from you :) Tawana Ray
